Achilles tendinitis is a difficult problem and requires an ultrasound-guided, percutaneous PRP injection into the tendon precisely where the tendon is partially torn. This technique is very beneficial and is in essence the gold standard in treating Achilles tendinitis. It should be noted, however, that every Achilles tendon does not repair on the first treatment and, at times, two or even three PRP treatments would be given over the course of several months. Other areas of treatment in the foot such as neuromas, sprains, stress fractures, degenerative arthritis of the great toe and posterior tibial tendinitis or peroneal tendinitis are easily diagnosed, and many of them treated conservatively in the office.
